Promenade Donates $20,000 for New Van!

Promenade

This generous donation will allow The Relatives to purchase a van, which will be used to further The Relatives mission of safety, stability and successful futures for youth and young adults in Mecklenburg County. The van will be an integral resource for The Relatives mobile outreach initiative, which reaches young adults in the community who are not aware of The Relatives On Ramp program, as well as clients that are not able to travel to the On Ramp Resource Center for services.

This is the second financial gift awarded to The Relatives from Promenade of Charlotte, Inc. Their first financial gifts was in 2012, and was fundamental in furthering the work of the On Ramp program. Since then, Promenade of Charlotte, Inc. has been an active supporter and ambassador of The Relatives’ initiatives. The Relatives is greatly appreciative of this generous donation, as well as the support of the greater Charlotte-Mecklenburg region.

New & Improved: Carriage House

Joey and Brittany Logano

For NASCAR driver, Joey Logano and his wife Brittany, it all started with a day at The Relatives!

“When Brittany and I came to volunteer in December, we were so impressed with the kids who were staying at the house. We had such a great day hanging out and just learning more about them. We left that day wanting to do something to help. We hope the remodeled carriage house is a space they can use to relax in during what I am sure is a tough time.”

After visiting the kids at The Relatives Crisis Center and spending time in the “carriage house”, NASCAR driver, Joey Logano, and his wife, Brittany, wanted to make a difference for the 400 kids who stay at The Relatives each year. Typically the carriage house is used as a bonus room to do activities, and allows the youth to simply be kids. With that many kids in and out, the carriage house had gotten very tattered, and lacked the cheerfulness Brittany and Joey envisioned. After much collaboration, a plan was made to create a space that would be comfortable and happy for these kids who come to the center in crisis and need a cheerful place to spend time. Joey and Brittany donated the funds to completely renovate the house, now a wonderful and bright space to be enjoyed by all.
